University
The University of Hólar is stationed in Skagafjörður. The University that offers study in three major fields; Aquaculture & Fish biology, Rural Tourism and Equine Science, has in fact entailed that a small village has risen in the valley of Hjaltadalur. The university has been working with local, domestic and foreign companies in several studies and research projects within all three faculties. Several international students in master and doctor studies are consistently studying at the University of Hólar.
Comprehensive college
At Sauðárkrókur is a comprehensive college. The college offers both academicals studies in finance, languages and nature science, and vocational studies for electricians, metal industries and carpentry. The school is working on a new training program in cooperation with the branch of the IT company Skýrr in Sauðárkrókur, with the objective of training and educating new employees in Skýrr.
