Air links

Iceland maintains highly efficient and regular air links with both Europe and North America. Icelandair offers passenger and cargo services to and from more than twenty gateways year-round on either side of the Atlantic, and several other international carriers operate a number of services for at least part of the year. Iceland Express offers regularly scheduled flights to 14 European destinations, on either a year-round or summer basis. Air Atlanta Icelandic is the largest ACMI service provider in the world, and offers tailor-made solutions to other carriers, both in the passenger and cargo industry.

Durations

  • Flight duration is 2.5-5 hours to Europe; 5.5-6 hours to the United States and Canada.
  • Shipping duration is 3-4 days to Europe; 7-8 days to North America.

The domestic airport of Saudarkrokur services flight routes to Reykjavik, the capitol of Iceland. Although this single runway airfield has only been used as domestic airport for propeller airplanes it is capable of servicing small sized cargo planes. Some improvements are needed at the airport to make it capable of landing large cargo planes.
